Research for Graphics Project

I researched into several GRAPHIC DESIGNERS first was April Greiman my research is shown below i have scanned it in. This is my individual research:

For these pages i actually took inspiration from her work with the bright contrasting block colours. She is the type of quirky designer i'm interested in. I really related to her work especially some of the architecture, as i'm also fond of Zaha Hadid who is designing the new Olympic stadium for Tokyo.  The work is eye catching as some is obviously abstract . Some of it reminds me of the Memphis group.

Milton Glaser was the second graphic designer i looked at and became intrigued by. His work is widely knows as he designed the I love NY shirts. His work is very distinct. I also found out he has hundreds of clients the page was endless when scrolling.  His work is not  a one trick pony, he produces a range of art in different disciplines such as signage, environmental, interior and logos etc.

This is actually me with the I Love NY  shirt on, what makes the tee so iconic is the bold red and black lettering, the design is worldwide. Most countries have merchandise with I love..... ie I love London etc.

Another thing about him as a graphic designer his work is actually affordable, these products with the I love ... are not actually that expensive so good for a memento.

Other artists

Stefan Saggmeister, stephanie posavec, Marian Bantjes, and Gerhardt Ricchter.

Stefan Sagmeister is a New York-based graphic designer and typographer. He has his own design firm—Sagmeister & Walsh Inc.—in New York City.
STEFAN SAGMEISTER (1962-) is among today’s most important graphic designers. Born in Austria, he now lives and works in New York. His long-standing collaborators include the AIGA and musicians, David Byrne and Lou Reed.

Stefanie Posavec

The structure of Part One of On the Road visualized using a simple tree structure that has been worked with manually in order to give it a more organic feel. Here, Part One divides into chapters, chapters divide into paragraphs, paragraphs divide into sentences, and sentences divide into words. Everything is colour-coded according to key themes in On the Road. Im not so sure about her work its very simplistic in the colours which is interesting but its not bold it doesn't touch a nerve for me.

  • Gerhard Richter

  • Gerhard Richter is a German visual artist. Richter has simultaneously produced abstract and photo realistic painted works, as well as photographs and glass pieces. Richter officially began painting in 1962. Here we give you access to his various works, ranging from oils on canvas to over painted photographs, and including the historical reference of photographs.

This is a screen print of his website from first glance i was eager to look at his work. Another distinct aspect about his work is that it varies between photos and paintings etc. This means hes a flexible graphic artist.
